The passport is an identity document issued by the Brazilian Government, being used mostly in borders and trips abroad.

Documentation and procedure:

The Brazilian citizen who wishes to issue the Brazilian passport must first fill out the application with his/her personal data on the official website of the Federal Police. Upon completion of the application, a protocol number will be issued, followed by a fee. This fee should be paid preferably in the banking network.

The second step is to schedule the service for issuance of the passport that can only occur when the federal police system identifies the payment of the fee. The applicant can select the nearest service station of his or her residence or any other, according to the urgency and comply with the dates made available by the system.

The third step is the applicant’s attendance at the selected federal police station during the scheduling process. The citizen must attend the place, with the necessary documentation. It is recommended to arrive at least 30 minutes in advance.

As a rule, the required documents are: Id. Card, birth certificate or marriage certificate; voter’s card followed by a certificate of electoral discharge; proof of address; proof of scheduling and paid fee. Other documents may be requested depending on the situation of the applicant.
